Mieke is co-founder and managing partner of Halsten Law in Belgium and actively practices as legal counsel from our Antwerp office. Her passion is administrative enforcement, an expertise she masters down to the last detail. Additionally, she advises companies in the broadest sense with a primary focus on contracting, administrative, commercial, corporate and trade law. Privacy and AI issues pass across her desk weekly.
She is an enthusiastic problem-solver with a strong belief in teamwork. Passionate about law, Mieke approaches legal problems from a business perspective and in its best interest. Always with an eye for detail. Clear communication and thinking ‘out of the box’ ensure that clients, both in the public and private sectors, are happy to return to her for advice.
Furthermore, she regularly teaches at the AP Hogeschool Antwerp and the National School for Officers and provides substantive training at clients’ offices. Topics such as the DIOB Act, public access to government information, legal reading comprehension, GDPR, and AI literacy are frequently requested subjects.
